This is Pilates

At it’s foundation, Pilates is movement. It’s not movement like exercise, it’s a connected intentional movement. It’s integrated with breath and the natural anatomical functioning of the body and it serves to bring awareness between action and execution.

This means that Pilates is intimately connected to breathing and the ability to be mindful and present. It teaches you this while also asking you to facilitate movements from the place of intention versus the place of default or ease. Unproductive movement patterns, and areas of the body that struggle to function properly soon lose out in a consistent Pilates practice.

A movement modality that helps you reduce pain, re-establish movements you can’t do anymore and facilitates injury recovery, Pilates is for everyone. It offers an overall improved lengthening and efficiency in operation of the body, making it ideal for improving your craft as an experienced athlete, or healing your body when in pain or injury.

With commitment and consistency, showing up and being patient in the process, there is a lot that Pilates can offer.

“Blame no one, expect nothing, do something.”
